One of the core passions that motivated me to start this business is my longing to see businesses doing good in the world thrive. My heart swells with joy every time I hear of positive change coming about through entrepreneurship. A year ago, God gave me a vision for how I could serve purpose-driven business owners with my brand design skills. Though it was a big risk, I was too excited to say no.
Creatives have a powerful role to play in renewing the world around us, and that we have some wild and amazing experiences in store if we step into it. For too long, I thought there was no way I could do anything significant for God’s kingdom through my creative passions. But the more I invited him into my creativity, my perspective started to change.
Here are 3 key reasons why creatives will change the world:
Creatives see what’s not there...yet
Once you’re aware that something’s missing or not right, you’re compelled to find a solution. Your mind starts imagining the possibilities, and nothing’s off limits. But some problems are just too big to solve alone. We definitely need other people’s help. Still, sometimes I wonder if the right amount of people and resources would ever be enough to tackle all the issues we’re facing today.
These questions and doubts point to our need for Jesus. He wants us to partner with him in renewing this world and experience the joy of creating with him. In the last few years, I’ve found that the more I invite Jesus into my creative projects, he always shows up with something unexpected and better than I could ever come up with.
Creatives are amazing problem solvers
Beauty awakens the soul and is an unlikely yet powerful catalyst for change. At first glance, a work of beauty may appear as a feast for the senses and nothing more. Yet when the creator imbeds it with meaning, this experience of beauty can cause a moment of transformation.
Change, justice, and growth all begin with a spark of motivation, a vision for better than now. Creatives wielding the tool of beauty can express their vision in a way that compels, persuades, and encourages people to strive for something new. It’s our calling to create beauty that stirs hope, prompts action, and brings healing to the world.
Creatives use beauty to bring about change
No, I don’t mean hallucination. I’m talking about our capacity to imagine a different reality. Ever been called out for living too much in the future? I know I have been. Although I’m all for being more present, I think there’s something special about this ability to envision a better world that shouldn’t be squashed. If we embrace this way of thinking, we can use it to do so much good.
Faith and creativity are a powerful combination for change that we’re all invited into. We’re not limited to only what we can imagine, but have access to the mind of God through his Spirit, so truly anything’s possible. When our imaginations are paired with an expectancy in God, great works of renewal are possible.
